Managing Access in CCH Axcess™

If you do not have access to functions, clients, or staff, contact your system administrator. A description of what you cannot access and the following information should resolve access issues.

Important:

  • Never allow, in any security group, overrides granting that right in any other security group. For example, if you are in a Managers security group that has Never allow specified as the right for assigning signers on tax returns, and you are also in a Senior Partners security group where Allow is the specified right for assigning signers on tax returns, you will not be able to assign signers on tax returns.
  • Product features and options may be disabled or may not appear in your installed version of CCH Axcess, depending on your firm’s product licenses and your assigned rights.

ClosedExplain how to gain access to modules or functions in modules.

Access to modules and functions is controlled in security groups. Use a security group to grant and restrict functional rights to groups of staff. Staff assigned to security groups inherit the rights and restrictions of the group.

Some functional right settings are applicable only to the organizational units that are selected for the security group.

ClosedExplain how to gain access to clients.

By default, client information is available to all staff in your firm who are granted Client Manager functional rights in a security group. A client access group is a security method for restricting access to client information. Use these groups to restrict client access to certain staff levels or certain individuals in the firm. Access to clients can be secured for all CCH Axcess products or for specific product modules.

Clients in client access groups can only be accessed by staff who have been assigned to the client access group as Staff with access.

ClosedExplain how to gain access to staff.

By default, staff information is available to all staff in your firm who are granted Staff Manager functional rights in a security group. A staff access group is a security method for restricting access to staff information. Access to staff can be secured for all CCH Axcess products or for specific product modules.

There are two types of staff assignments to staff access groups. Staff assigned to the staff access group are secured staff. Only staff assigned to the staff access group as Staff with access have any ability to access secured staff.
