Configuring the Document Integration with CCH Axcess™ Tax

You can send tax returns from CCH Axcess™ Tax directly to Document. Once returns are in Document, you can email them to clients using Document's encrypted email feature. If your firm licenses the version of Portal that integrates with Document, you can also send returns to client portals.

Note: This information applies only if your firm licenses Portal.

Tax returns are sent to Document as PDFs or TIFFs. Keep in mind the following limitations:

  • PDFs larger than 5,000 pages cannot be sent to Document.
  • Organizer printing and batch printing are not available.

The following configuration is needed before you can send Tax returns to Document:

  • Firm-level configuration. Configure the tax mapping options in Administration Manager. These options help ensure that returns are placed in the correct Document folder.
  • User-level configuration. Set the Tax Closeduser option that allows for returns to be sent to Document.
    1. Select User Options on the Dashboard navigation panel.
    2. Click Tax > Interface Options.
    3. Select  Document/Engagement.
    4. Select appropriate options in the window. Click for more assistance, if needed.
  • Additional configuration when also using Portal. When your firm configures the tax mapping options for Document, it should also select Portal folder template options. No additional configuration is needed to enable the integration. For best results, you should set up client portals before attempting to publish returns to portals. Portals can be created singly or in batches. See Adding Portals and Adding Portals in Batches for instructions on creating portals.

Note: If your firm uses CCH® ProSystem fx® Tax, different configuration instructions apply. See Integrating Document with CCH® ProSystem fx® Tax for more information.
